WI have photographed this handsome little man when he was just a newborn (you can read about his newborn session in this blog post), only few days old. I was so excited when his mummy contacted me to photograph his 1st birthday cake smash and splash, but sadly the Covid-19 pandemic hit, lockdown happened and we were not able to capture his cake smash.
By the time restrictions lifted, Arlo was a cheeky 1.5year old, running confidently and he would not want to have anything to do with sit down photoshoot, so we decided to take him outdoors and turn his 1st birthday photoshoot into a family relaxed outdoor session to mark his special milestone.
We headed to the nearby woods to capture some relaxed photos of this lovely family. Arlo was a lighting of pure energy and had an absolute blast running around the woods, exploring and having fun. My approach to family photography is very relaxed, allowing kids to be kids and capturing the moment, the real smiles and true personalities in the meantime. And this worked wonders with this cheeky, energetic 1.5year old. Here are a few of my favourites from his (belayed) 1 year old photoshoot and relaxed, candid outdoor family photo session.
It is fantastic watching babies grow and I feel incredibly lucky my clients keep coming back to me as their little ones grow older and families grow bigger. It is definitely one of the most rewarding parts of the job and I am still at awe how grown up not-so-little-anymore Arlo is and what amazing, outgoing personality he has.
Family photoshoots are great opportunity to mark important milestones, or just yearly update your family photos to document your family's journey.
